A rare variant of Hans Wegner's RY20 sideboard/buffet combination for Ry Møbler. We aren't sure if this piece was custom made or a prototype but either way it is a unique example of the classic RY20 design. It has both obvious and subtle differences. Instead of the six large drawers usually found on this design, the bottom section has two sets of drawers and two doors. Behind the two doors we find shelves and two locking drawers. All drawers are solid wood construction with dovetail joinery. They also all have the same handles as found on other Wegner storage pieces. The top section has two sliding doors that conceal a large storage area with adjustable shelves. But the most unique feature are the four hidden drawers under the bottom section. They pull out from underneath, are felt lined and one is partitioned with solid teak elements. As with all Wegner designs, the construction is top-notch with tons of solid wood elements and expert joinery. The teak used is gorgeous and well selected. The unique piece would be a great addition to any Wegner collection or modern setting.
