Niels O. Møller (1920-1981) completed his training as a cabinetmaker in 1939, and went on to study at the Danish Design school in Århus.

In 1944 Møller founded J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik in Århus; the same company which still operates today. 1951 marked the year Møller designed the #71 chair which became one of his most popular designs. He went on to design other dining chairs and tables, coffee tables, sideboards and cabinets and serving carts but without a doubt his most impressive design would be his #78/62 chairs in 1962. The subtle and elegant design features have made it a standard for design and quality of production. J.L. Møller is now run by his son Jørgen Henrik.
