B123 Plan Møbel "Radhus" Oak Easy Chair

Denmark

1940

An oak easy chair by Hans Wegner for Plan Møbel. Hans Wegner worked for Arne Jacobsen and Erik Møller early in his career and helped them with the design of the Aarhus City Hall. Wegner was in charge of the furniture and designed a series of chairs, desks and case pieces. This was some of Wegner's earliest work. Plan Møbel was one of the firms in charge of production and then went on to produce it for office use. The chair is generous in size and quite comfortable. There are a few interesting elements of this chair's design. The unusual angular joint of the armrest as well as the angle in the front leg are unique compared to Wegner's later designs. The arms have inset upholstered rests that flare out of the side of the arms. We've covered the piece in new black leather which contrasts nicely with the stained oak frame. It is all solid oak and in good condition for it's age. Own a piece of Danish design history as this unique piece would be a great addition to any Wegner collection.
