A pair of Hans Wegner CH35 oak armchairs for Carl Hansen & Søn. In this lovely Wegner design, the standout design feature is the large solid oak backrest which is reminiscent of earlier Wegner iconic designs such as his JH501 "Round" chair or JH502 "Swivel" chair for Johanes Hansen. Although the backrest is a large part of the design, it's hand-carved rounded form and thin edges make it visually light enough to not dominate the rest of the chair. The backrest joins into the side of the armrests which are nicely carved out to accomodate one's arms while resting. The entire frame is solid white European oak and is, as with all of Wegner's designs, joined masterfully. They are very comfortable to sit in and the armrests are in just the right position. The floating seats are covered in black vinyl which contrasts nicely with the tone of the oak frames. We love this as an occassional chair, a desk or conference chair or in a dining setting. This unique chair would fit well into many home or office settings.
