#330 Fredericia Oak "Football" Sofas / Daybeds

Denmark

1958

A rare pair of sofas/daybeds designed by Børge Mogensen for Fredericia A/S. Originally designed in a larger version for Erhard Rasmussen, this awesome sofa set is truly unique. It is nicknamed the "Football" sofa because of a photo taken with a group of boys playing with a soccer ball on a group of these sofas. Because of it's 2:1 proportions, it can be arranged in a variety of configurations. You can use them together or separate. We absolutely love the wall hung head cushions supported by saddle leather straps. The set also comes with an extra pair of cylindrical cushions. The base is constructed of solid oak with exposed joinery on the corners which we see in several Mogensen designs. The original plaid wool was designed by Mogensen's partner, Lis Ahlmann and produced by Cotil. The spring form cushions are comfortable to lounge on or take a nap. Mogensen even had this design in his summer house. This is an awesome set that is rarely seen. An awesome sofa for any modern environment. Dimensions of the sofa when fully assembled are: 55 1/2" wide x 56" deep x 29" high. Seat height [13"]. Back cushion height [16"].
