DESCRIPTION:
A rare and important rocking chair design by Hans Wegner for Mikael Laursen. This model was one of Wegner's first designs and his first rocking chair. It was first presented at Købestævnet in Fredericia 1942. Mikael Larsen, who was a master carver as well as a cabinetmaker produced the design for Wegner. It was one of only a few pieces he constructed him. We see several cues from this design that were carried forward into other pieces by Wegner which makes it very intriguing. The oak has a wonderful patina and is nicely "worn in". The chair has a small footprint but yet is extremely comfortable and has a generous seating area. This piece would make a great addition to any Wegner collection or to any modern setting.
